Fencing training
When we hear about this sport, our imagination immediately draws musketeers, swords in their hands, hats with feathers on their heads, boots with spurs on their feet, they are competing for a beautiful lady… In a word, pure romance!
In fact, the word itself comes from the German fechten - «to fight, fight». Back in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, fencing was taught to legionnaires, gladiators and even children, starting from 5 years old. This is explained by the fact that in those days fencing was a vital necessity, a way of fighting with the use of cold weapons and was in no way related to romance
In the 19th century fencing began to form a separate sport, and already at the end of the 19th century, the first competitions were held. In 1896, a new sport was recognized as an Olympic sport.
What is the benefit of fencing training?
- The whole body works: a special load falls on the Achilles tendon, knees, and calf muscles. Back muscles work continuously during training. Hands holding weapons are also tense.
- Fencing gives a good cardio load
- Strengthens the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, makes the body resilient
- Has a beneficial effect on the nervous system: relieves stress, allows emotions to flow out in a fight, which helps to avoid depression and nervous overload
- Stress resistance is formed, the ability to control emotions, courage appears
- Coordination of movements, speed of reaction improves. All this develops the brain, so it is not surprising that, as a result, intelligence increases, it is not for nothing that fencers are called «chess players with muscles».
Fencing is a sport that allows you to choose the load, taking into account the physical capabilities of a particular person. That is why there are practically no contraindications. There are cases when they started fencing at the age of 96!
